Still Pedaling Along

We are currently enjoying a hot cup in coffee in Santa Barbara, one block from the beach. The last few days we've appreciated the cool overcast mornings allowing for comfortable riding temperatures. By noon the sun breaks through and blue skies and warmth fills the day.

On Tuesday, July 29th we had our fill of going without showers and made the wise decision to splurge on a motel in Morro Bay and thoroughly enjoyed cleaning up with a hot shower and laundry.

We also enjoyed ourselves to several other treats.

Who doesn't like cold pint of beer while doing laundry?!

We thoroughly enjoyed nachos and a carne asada burrito at the best Mexican place in Morro Bay!

Cheap tasty treats!

We took a stroll along Morro Bay's boardwalk and took in boat viewing from afar.

From Morro Bay we made our way towards Oceano to return to our hiker/biker camping lifestyle. We arrived at Oceano State Campground to learn they no longer offered hiker/biker camp sites and the campground was completely full so we began our search for another camping option. We were turned away by two other campgrounds for the same reasons. Thankfully, an RV park in the area offered a hiker/biker site with hot showers and we were thrilled to secure a place to sleep for the night. Sleep is a relative term as the camp site was located between the train tracks and highway. It made for an interesting night, however we woke ready for our ride!

The ride took us inland and the scenery changed to vast mountain ranges as we pedaled along. We pedaled past fields of broccoli, strawberries, brussel sprouts, lettuce and raspberries.

We passed through a small town called Guadalupe and took in the town's incredible cemetery.

We pedaled up 950 feet in elevation and this was the view from the top. We were happy to see it as the heat was turned up on this ride and we welcomed the decent.

On this adventure we have discovered two new favorite stores; Grocery Outlet and The Dollar Store. You can get the best deals at these stores! Well, as we arrived in Lompac we were introduced to the 99 Cent Store; another incredible place for specular savings.

Here's what we scored at the 99 Cent Store all for $3.55; two apples, nine plums, two bananas and Coppertone sunscreen! It was such an incredible deal we both felt it was too good to be true.

We located the only campground in Lompac which was lovely; small and quite.

Loving this adventure!

Last night we stayed at Refugio State Park, which was the most expensive so far, $10 per person. However, we were right on the beach and had a spectacular time enjoying it as well.

Me, pointing out my dolphin sightings.
